It makes me remember the version of Herod’s history told in Bible. He’s not an evil man just for ordering the killing of the innocents or killing John the Baptist…he’s an encarnation of naivity, lust, alcoholism and lack of values, and that’s the cause of those extremes. He is bad BEFORE happening what happens according to the Holy Book.

He’s considered an evil man by the orthodox jews of that time for being from Idumeam origin and converted to judaism just nominally, for being cruel and naive, killer of his own family and many high rabbis, and specially for being a puppet of the empire, immersed in the greek-roman culture and way of life, lover of arts, orgies, dance, wine, music and all the particularities of joie de vivre for a roman monarch-puppet, who hold just nominally a crown that was given to him by the roman senate taken from another puppet king sponsored by Partia…

AND NOW THESE SAME ORTHODOX HAVE THE BOLLOCKS OF TAKING HIM AS A MAN OF SPLENDOR AND AN EXCUSE TO JUSFITY THE SETTLEMENTS AND THE ANCHLUSS? … 😀 …geez.
